We use Paypal as it is a secure environment. You do not need to setup an account. As soon as the payment is processed, you will receive a confirmation email. This will be followed with a declaration that you are a UK taxpayer and with the donation to be treated as Gift Aid, thus reducing your tax and helping The Friends claim back.
Eligibility for Gift Aid requires you to have paid tax at least equivalent to the amount reclaimable by the charity, currently 28p for each £1 donated. Tax means income or capital gains tax and includes tax credits on dividend income and interest on bank and other savings accounts paid net where you have not already reclaimed that tax.
